I think that worship is a " hot " topic at every church or most every church. It really is a little silly though I have my favorite styles of worship too. Personally, I think worship is between me and God and when I am consioius of people around me or having a bad attitude, I can't fully worship. It is those times that I sing half heartedly or go through the motions. When I really let God take over, I don't care if it is a contemporay, rocky modern song or Amazing Grace. The spirit will flow through me, I will raise my hands and feel like dancing. The funny thing is that I was too consious for that a few years ago. I restricted God and what he wanted to teach me through the worship experience. I am a pretty shy person a lot of the time but when I truly worship, I don't care who is around me, what we are singing or what anybody thinks about my response to it. Truly, I try to worship throughout the day.

Pastor Greg:

I whole heartedly agree. If our lives can be a "service of worship" I think we become more "flexable" to the music style of our corporate worship.

Personally I try to surround myself with the music that I enjoy and that seems "worshipful" for me during my personal devotion, prayer, and worship time. I find that when I am consistent about my own personal worship across the other six days of the week I can deal with just about anything during Sunday morning.

I try to keep reminding people that we get to be our own "worship leaders" 6 out of the 7 days of the week. I think that many of those who criticise the corporate worship music probably aren't experiencing the joy of personal worship like they could be.
