I encourage you to teach what the New Testament really teaches about tithing; that “tithing”, i.e. ten percent giving, is really only the starting point. In fact, the New Testament teaches that we are invited to “excel in the grace of giving”, a model that actually encourages going above and beyond the tithe. So for folks who say, “The New Testament doesn’t teach us to tithe,” I say, “You’re absolutely right. It teaches us to do more than tithe. I’m game, if you are!”
